Membership
What’s the Big Deal?
What is a local church and why should I join one? The big deal is that when you become a believer you become a member and you have responsibilities. Choose the Father and the Son you choose the whole family which you do through the local church. Being a member of a church is like being an ambassador.
Where do we find membership?
You simply cannot talk about a local church without talking about its members. It’s like trying to talk about a team, a family, a nation, or yes, even a club without talking about its members (Jonathan Leeman). In this video, we look at Scripture and see where we find Church Membership.
Are you married?
We as members of a local church are married into that church. A local church is a group of Christians who regularly gather in Christ’s name to officially affirm and oversee one another’s membership in Jesus Christ and His Kingdom through gospel preaching and the gospel ordinances. We as members have a similar responsibility to each other as what a married couple has to each other.
Are you a body part?
Church Membership is not for perfect people. Church Membership is for people that know they are not perfect, but they are willing to fight the good fight as they become more like Jesus. God gave us the church, fellow gathered believers, to prepare us for glory. In this session, we are looking at what a church is like. The church is a functioning body that has a job to do. We also look at what the standards are for membership.
Submit or Rebel?
We know that Christ submitted His whole life for our good as he submitted to God the Father. This is why we as a local church are called to submit to the body, our fellow believers. In this video, we look in what ways individuals should submit to their local church.
