Training Opportunities
Purposeful Publishing
Imprint is not primarily a publisher, but a ministry committed to training pastors, with the goal of strengthening the church in Africa. Trustworthy, biblical resources are, however, an indispensable tool in this regard. To this end, Imprint publishes material that furthers its vision of training pastors, and makes the resources that it publishes available through its store.
Preaching Workshops
The Charles Simeon Trust preaching workshop is an opportunity for pastors and church leaders to strengthen their expositional skills. These workshops provide practical training to increase participants’ confidence and ability in rightly handling God’s word, allowing participants to grow in their conviction of the power of the Scriptures and their eagerness to teach it to their people.
Weekenders
The annual weekender is a partnership between Imprint and Brackenhurst Baptist Church, where church leaders from across Africa are given opportunity to experience the life and inner workings of a healthy church. It provides a model by which church leaders can evaluate their own churches and observe and discuss the biblical and practical dynamics of a healthy church.
Conferences
Imprint hosts occasional conferences and workshops to help pastors and their congregations grow in healthy, gospel-centred living. These conferences aim to facilitate spiritual growth, foster Christian community, and offer training and teaching in practical areas of the Christian and local church life. Conferences are by no means the primary focus of Imprint and only serve to further its training goals.

Episode #86—Côte d’Ivoire Debrief: Reflections on a Preaching Workshop in Abidjan
What does it look like to invest in the preaching health of the church in West Africa? A recent visit to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, offered some insight into that question. Tommie and I travelled to Côte d’Ivoire—a French-speaking country on the west coast of Africa—at the...
Episode #85—Am I Drifting? Recognising and Recovering from Spiritual Decline
There are seasons in the Christian life that feel like wading through quicksand. The Bible sits unopened. Prayer feels hollow. Church becomes a chore. These are not simply bad weeks—they may be signs of something more serious: a heart growing cold toward God. But how...
Episode #84—Be a Man: Four Pillars of Authentic Masculinity
Masculinity is a word that provokes strong reactions. In some circles it is celebrated; in others, treated as inherently suspect. But amid the noise of the cultural debate, a quieter and more constructive conversation is possible—one focused not on dominance or...
Episode #83—Six Pillars of Church Ministry: A Framework for Faithful, Fruitful Church Life
What does a healthy church actually look like—and how do you build one deliberately rather than by accident? At Midrand Chapel Baptist Church, we have spent years wrestling with this question. The framework I and my fellow elders arrived at is disarmingly simple: six...
Bonus Episode #12—Ten Minutes with Jesus—or Three Million Rand
A trending social media question has recently done the rounds: If you are a committed Christian, would you choose ten minutes with Jesus in person, or three million rand? At first glance, the “spiritual” answer seems obvious. Surely any genuine believer will choose...

As Brackenhurst Baptist Church prepares for its annual World Outreach Celebration, it is an opportunity not merely to host an event, but to refocus on the church’s God-given mandate. For over four decades, the church has held a missions conference. In more recent...

Ministering Like the Master: Lessons from Mark 3:13–19
At this point in Mark’s Gospel, Jesus’ ministry had gained considerable momentum. Men and women from all over Israel and beyond flocked to this man for aid. Wherever he went, he was noticed. At this juncture, he sets apart twelve men—custodians of the gospel—who would...
Ten Takeaways from Chapter 10 of Corporate Worship by Doug Van Meter
Corporate Worship by Doug Van Meter, pastor of Brackenhurst Baptist Church, is an insightful and timely resource that addresses a matter of great importance for all local churches: the biblical call to respond to divine revelation in a manner that is informed by...
Worshipping According to the Word
The modern era places increasing emphasis on expressive individualism. If one were to survey a segment of the church-going population about the right way to worship God, the results would likely reflect as many opinions, preferences, and philosophies as there are...
The Centrality of the Gospel in the Life of the Church
The foundation of any true church is the faithful proclamation of the gospel from the word of God (2 Timothy 4:2–5). Without this foundation, you do not have a church—that is to say, you may have a gathering of faithful attendees every Sunday morning, but they do not...
The Problem of Pride: Pursuing Humility in a Proud World
I have always found it striking to observe the differences between the Bible’s view of humanity and the world’s view of humanity. One of these differences concerns how we should live our lives. The world teaches us to constantly marvel at how special we are, while the...
Learning to Lament (Part 6): The Goal of Lament
God has created and re-created us in Christ to bring glory to him in all we do. We are designed and redeemed to be people of praise, living our lives by faith, trusting and worshipping the God who is there, is sovereign, and good. The truth is that he is loving,...
